For years the Robotics team have discussed using visual media to reach out to our supporters, in the forms of videos and live streams. Enabling experienced members to share their process and insight to the design process will engage sponsors, alumni, and prospective members alike. The biggest obstacle thus far has been obtaining a camera that can capture the delicate electrical and mechanical work with clarity. With this HD camera the team will make its vision a reality. Whether the camera is attached to a frame suspended above a breadboard, or recording testing footage from the front of a robot, this item will be invaluable to our team.

During our decision process of selecting a camera that would best fit our use, we also considered ip cameras that collect and transmit video through a computer network or internet. Although they can serve multiple functions, the lack of on-board storage which is a deal breaker for us. If we needed to record an ip camera, we would have needed a NVR as explained in this Buyer’s Guide, however, we needed a smaller footprint DVR+camera in one.
