This past Friday was Minerama, the student involvement fair which is held at the start of every semester at Missouri S&T to show students all of the various organizations in the community that they can be a part of. Though many clubs, teams, and societies had booths, we’re pretty sure we’re the only one that let people drive a robot! When students came to our booth, they were able to use an XBOX controller to drive around our two-wheeled mobile platform-shaped robot affectionately called “Trashbot” (or, originally, MiniPrime). We were also able to demonstrate other robotics projects including our little “swerve drive” robot, MicroPrime, and a new crab-based scuttling design. Most important, robotic helpers or not, we were able to sign up plenty of interested students and look forward to having a great team this year!
